Sorry, I am a bit confused because I have not worked with a choice experiment with a well defined status quo. These are unlabeled alternatives.
When I look at the estimates from a 2-class I see the following:
In each class, estimated coefficients on the status quo dummy variable, price, and the ...

Re: Positive coefficient on price/cost
Hi Michiel,
Yes, each respondent had a choice between three alternatives, choice 1, choice 2, and a status quo.
In this very hastily written equation: choice = b1*statusquo + b2*v1 + b3*v2 + b4*v3 +b5*pricepermonth + b0 + eps
- choice is a binary variable equal to 0 if an alternative (choice 1 ...

Positive coefficient on price/cost
Hi all,
I am using some choice experiment data in which the choice model is as follows:
choice = b1*statusquo + b2*v1 + b3*v2 + b4*v3 +b5*pricepermonth + b0 + eps
I am running latent class models and in most 2-class models there is a class whose price per month coefficient is positive and ...

Re: How do design levels impact estimates of marginal trade
Thanks so much! That is really helpful. One thing I didn't clarify in my earlier post is that although the WTP in the sample with more comparisons between close $ values is much lower than in the other sample, they are still statistically and economically significant. That's why my first thought was ...

How do design levels impact estimates of marginal trade offs
Hi all,
I am working with two sets of data, both samples of the same population. For each sample, I conducted a choice experiment with a cost attribute roughly centered around $5. In one (sample 1), the spread of the attribute was slightly lower, and the design was such that people made comparisons ...

Re: Mistake when translating design into survey
Thanks so much for the advice! So essentially you lose the ability to claim anything about the properties of the design (e.g. we use a d-optimal design) but there isn't a need for worry regarding reporting model results.

Mistake when translating design into survey
Hi all,
Apologies if this has been covered elsewhere but it's difficult to search for.
What kinds of problems occur if you make a mistake when putting a design into a survey?
A specific example: In a design with 4 blocks and 4 questions per block, block 1 question 1 is substituted for block 2 ...
